New to running

So you are tempted to take up running? Before you put on those trainers, we’d like to make sure that you are in shape to do so!

If you are new to running, recovering from injury, worried about an existing condition or returning to running following a long period out, then we’d strongly recommend for you to visit your GP before you start running.

Even though running is an excellent form of exercise that keeps us fit, healthy and strong, both mentally and physically; it is imperative that you seek medical advice if you’ve been physically inactive for more than a year.

But once you have the go-ahead from your GP, we’re here to help you! We have opportunities available for all abilities; from building up fitness levels gently with our walk to run programme to embarking on your first 5k.
