With well over 40 members of social running groups in attendance as runners and volunteers, alongside club runners, locals and visitors, there was a wonderful atmosphere which seemed to reflect the glorious sunshine (and pretty intense heat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Celebration relay&nbsp;provides all Run Wales registered <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/group-running\/find-a-group\/?location=Wales,UK&amp;radius=100&amp;grpname=\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/group-running\/find-a-group\/?location=Wales,UK&amp;radius=100&amp;grpname=\" target=\"_blank\">groups<\/a> with a tremendous opportunity to showcase their group, sharing information about their activities and encouraging more people to participate in social running outside of their regular weekly parkrun.&nbsp; We are encouraging groups to support their local parkrun by offering to volunteer as well as run, jog or walk at the relay events.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>6\/47: Celebration Relay Run Report &#8211; Newborough Forest parkrun <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p><em>This weeks run report contains contributions from a number of the Run Wales registered groups who participated in the event.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/mon-milers\/\" target=\"_blank\">M\u00f4n Milers<\/a> were delighted to take part in the Run Wales Social Running Celebration Relay when the baton came to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/newboroughforest\">Newborough Forest parkrun<\/a> on 13th August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 20 M\u1ed9n Milers gathered in the forest this week to run and volunteer (including Stan, a four-legged member) for this special event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_090227442.MP_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"656\" src=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_090227442.MP_-1024x656.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13163\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_090227442.MP_-1024x656.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_090227442.MP_-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_090227442.MP_-768x492.jpg 768w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_090227442.MP_.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><em>Some M\u00f4n Milers runners and volunteers with the baton<\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It was also a good to meet up with lots of members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/rhedwyr-maelog\/\">Rhedwyr Maelog Runners<\/a>. Well done Karen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our special thanks must go to all the volunteers who were all very friendly and supportive. The lush greenery of the pine trees, the sand dunes, views of Ynys Llanddwyn and the Eryri mountain range as a back drop, this really is an iconic place to run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_080749670.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"639\" src=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_080749670-1024x639.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_080749670-1024x639.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_080749670-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_080749670-768x479.jpg 768w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/PXL_20220813_080749670.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><em>Glimpses of Ynys Llanddwyn can be seen as the path takes parkrunners through the trees<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The route is one undulating lap which starts along a stony track and then onto sandy paths weaving in and out of the trees, with friendly marshals on each turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/rhedwyr-maelog\/\">Rhedwyr Maelog<\/a> is a new social running group and we were very pleased with our turnout to the event this weekend. Armon, one of our speediest runners completed the course in just over 18 minutes carrying the Run Wales celebration relay baton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_6754.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"694\" src=\"http:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_6754-1024x694.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_6754-1024x694.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_6754-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_6754-768x520.jpg 768w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_6754.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><em>Rhedwyr Maelog passed the baton back to each teammate as they finished their run<\/em>  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He then passed onto our next speedy runner Gavin, and the baton was passed back each time until our final runners, a ladies group made it through the finish line together. We all really enjoyed our first parkrun together as a group. We have plenty of chat on our runs but also have a good workout with some friendly competition. Since then 5,509 participants have completed 16,129 parkruns covering a total distance of 80,645 km, including 2,625 new Personal Bests. A total of 257 individuals have volunteered 2,231 times.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-post-date\"><time datetime=\"2022-08-15T11:27:33+01:00\">August 15, 2022<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The relay is popping back across the Menai Strait for next week&#8217;s parkrun, where the <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/per\/\">Porth Eirias Runners<\/a> are planning a takeover at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/conwy\/\" data-type=\"URL\" target=\"_blank\">Conwy parkrun<\/a>.  The Porth Eirias Runners  will be joined by members of several other Run Wales registered groups, so come along and meet the groups offering a wide range of opportunities to run in the area!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The relay baton continues its journey to every parkrun in Wales, courtesy of our amazing Run Wales groups, as they celebrate and share the joys of social running.
