{"id":13241,"date":"2022-08-20T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-20T08:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irun.wales\/?p=13241"},"modified":"2022-08-23T15:09:53","modified_gmt":"2022-08-23T14:09:53","slug":"conwy-parkrun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irun.wales\/cy\/news\/conwy-parkrun\/","title":{"rendered":"Social running groups &#8216;take-over&#8217; at Conwy parkrun"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It was a first for the <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/make-it-social\/relay\/\">Run Wales Celebration Relay<\/a> this week as Run Wales registered group,  <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/per\/\">Porth Eirias Runners<\/a> staged a &#8216;take-over&#8217; of Conwy parkrun, providing most of the volunteers required to hold the event.  With Conwy parkrun recording the highest number of attendees and volunteers this year, including registered local social running groups <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/dwygy-dashers\">Dwygy Dashers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/mon-milers\">M\u00f4n Milers<\/a>, it was a true celebration of social running!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Celebration relay&nbsp;provides all Run Wales registered <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/group-running\/find-a-group\/?location=Wales,UK&amp;radius=100&amp;grpname=\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/group-running\/find-a-group\/?location=Wales,UK&amp;radius=100&amp;grpname=\" target=\"_blank\">groups<\/a> with a tremendous opportunity to showcase their group, sharing information about their activities and encouraging more people to participate in social running outside of their regular weekly parkrun.&nbsp; We are encouraging groups to support their local parkrun by offering to volunteer as well as run, jog or walk at the relay events.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>7\/47: Celebration Relay Run Report &#8211; Conwy parkrun <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p><em>This weeks run report contains contributions from a number of the Run Wales registered groups who participated in the event.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/per\/\">Porth Eirias Runners<\/a> were very excited to take part in Run Wales <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/social-running\/relay\/\">Celebration Relay<\/a> when the baton made its way to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/conwy\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/conwy\" target=\"_blank\">Conwy parkrun<\/a> on Saturday 20th August 2022. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Conwy route is a mostly flat, very picturesque, out and back along the banks of the River Conwy, taking in the views of Conwy Castle as well. \u00a0We were very lucky with the weather, although a little breezy the sun shone on us and it stayed dry!!.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20190330_080405b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"695\" src=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20190330_080405b-1024x695.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20190330_080405b-1024x695.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20190330_080405b-300x204.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20190330_080405b-768x522.jpg 768w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20190330_080405b.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption><em>The course affords wonderful views of Conwy Castle<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It was great to see so many people attend, a total of 267 runners took part, with Morgan Kendall being first over the line with a very impressive time of 17.38 and a new PB. Christopher Taylor was a first timer and came in fourth with a time of 18.56. The members of <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/per\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/per\/\">Porth Eirias Runners<\/a> then took on their allocated positions, many volunteering for the first time so a few were a little apprehensive as we were responsible for time keeping and scanning barcodes!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/dwygy-dashers\">Dwygy Dashers<\/a> are regularly represented at Conwy parkrun, being based in nearby Dwygylfychi, but this special occasion encouraged a few extra team members to join them this week.\u00a0 As always though, they had a great morning running together and were ably supported by the beautiful, Dwygy Dashers bandana-wearing Ellie Dog!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/3b73319d-0baf-49fa-b28b-0c857d5b9484.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" team<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/mon-milers\">M\u00f4n Milers<\/a> often have a runner to two make the journey from Anglesey to enjoy the relatively flat, and definitely picturesque course at Conwy parkrun.\u00a0 This week, 4 of the 6 members completing the course were doing so for the first time, and it just confirmed how lucky we are to have so many wonderful parkrun events and stunning places to run right on our doorstep.\u00a0 We would also like to congratulate our baton-bearer, Gwilym, on achieving a new course PB this week.\u00a0 Da iawn, Gwil!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>The event was a huge success, <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/per\/\">Porth Eirias Runners<\/a> supplied cake for everyone after the run, and the members were seen to be having a great time supporting other runners, chatting and dancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a social running groups, providing more opportunities for people in Wales to enjoy running together safely.\u00a0 If you are a social running group (or would like to start one) and would like to know and 15 recorded new Personal Bests. Since then 14,004 participants have completed 73,982 parkruns covering a total distance of 369,910 km, including 12,485 new Personal Bests. A total of 590 individuals have volunteered 6,513 times.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-post-date\"><time datetime=\"2022-08-20T09:30:00+01:00\">August 20, 2022<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The baton returns to Anglesey next week as the Celebration Relay coincides with the 4th Anniversary celebrations at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/nantypandy\/\" data-type=\"URL\" target=\"_blank\">Nant y Pandy parkrun<\/a>.
