{"id":14229,"date":"2022-11-26T11:26:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-26T11:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irun.wales\/?p=14229"},"modified":"2022-11-29T15:34:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-29T15:34:20","slug":"brynaman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irun.wales\/cy\/news\/brynaman\/","title":{"rendered":"Brynaman parkrun welcomes the Ammanford Chatty Pacers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/chattypacers\/\">Ammanford Chatty Pacers<\/a> were back out in force this week, sharing the joy of social running at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/brynaman\" target=\"_blank\">Brynaman parkrun<\/a>, as they participated in the Run Wales Social Running Celebration Relay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Celebration relay&nbsp;provides all Run Wales registered <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/group-running\/find-a-group\/?location=Wales,UK&amp;radius=100&amp;grpname=\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/group-running\/find-a-group\/?location=Wales,UK&amp;radius=100&amp;grpname=\" target=\"_blank\">groups<\/a> with a tremendous opportunity to showcase their group, sharing information about their activities and encouraging more people to participate in social running outside of their regular weekly parkrun.&nbsp; We are encouraging groups to support their local parkrun by offering to volunteer as well as run, jog or walk at the relay events.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>16\/47: Celebration Relay Run Report &#8211; Brynaman parkrun <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>Our thanks to all at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/brynaman\" target=\"_blank\">Brynaman parkrun<\/a> for the warm welcome for me and members of our social running group, the <a href=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/groups\/chattypacers\/\">Ammanford Chatty Pacers<\/a>, and for letting me write this run report. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I arrived as the volunteers were arriving, they are always a friendly bunch up at Brynaman and straight away the atmosphere was welcoming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was overcast but dry, ideal running conditions. We had with us the Run Wales Social Running Celebration baton, as we were taking part in the parkrun relay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week the relay was at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/llynllechowain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Llyn Llech Owain<\/a> parkrun and is due at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrun.org.uk\/swanseabay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Swansea Bay parkrun<\/a> next Saturday. We were there to spread the word on social running groups, supported by Run Wales. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More of the Chatty Pacers arrived along with the other runners and there was soon a pleasant buzz of conversation as runners gathered: a great atmosphere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/brynaman-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/brynaman-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/brynaman-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/brynaman-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/brynaman.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption><em>Thanks for the warm welcome received by the Chatty Pacers!<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We chatted to Rhianydd, the Run Director, and other runners, and when Rhianydd gave the starters briefing, mentioned why we were there and pointed out the baton, thanks Rhianydd! Rhianydd also mentioned parkwalk, parkrun&#8217;s latest initiative and Brynaman has fully embraced this.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>The run itself was very nice, apart from a few wet leaves, standard for this time of the year, very nice running conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pack spread out, with people appropriately positioned and a nice distribution of runners with dogs, all well behaved (and their dogs too). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_094656-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_094656-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_094656-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_094656-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_094656.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The course itself is an out and back, gently downhill for the first half and a slight climb on the way back, so steady pacing is crucial on this one! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an out and back run, you get to see all the runners along the route and what was really nice was that all the faster runners shouted encouragement as they passed us on the way back, this parkrun really does demonstrate what parkrun is all about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"769\" src=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_091822sm-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_091822sm-1024x769.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_091822sm-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_091822sm-768x577.jpg 768w, https:\/\/irun.wales\/app\/uploads\/IMG_20221126_091822sm.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lots of clapping and encouragement at the finish and a nice chat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A great experience and many thanks to Rhianydd and gang for having us, we&#8217;ve had a few messages today to our group <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ammanford_chatty_pacers\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ammanford_chatty_pacers\/\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a> page, so hopefully some parkrunners will soon be joining a social running group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>This week 39 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 5 were first timers and 7 recorded new Personal Bests. Since then 1,414 participants have completed 4,547 parkruns covering a total distance of 22,735 km, including 882 new Personal Bests.
