The event is one of Wales\u2019 most established parkruns and averages over 150 runner every week!<\/p>\n<p>Many members of the Penrhyn parkrun recently took part in defibrillator awareness training in association with the Welsh Ambulance Trust after the recent installation of a new defibrillator for the event itself. In addition, many Penrhyn parkrunners took part in the \u2018Finish for Matt\u2019 event that was recently held in memory of Matt Campbell who tragically passed away after collapsing 3.7 miles from the finish line during the London Marathon. Participants added an extra 0.6 miles before or after their parkrun 5k\u2019s on the 25<sup>th<\/sup> April in Matt\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n<p>A new men\u2019s course record was recently set at the Penrhyn parkrun when Cardiff AAC athlete Dan Nash ran a storming time of 15:37 \u2013 and that was on a horrible rainy day in which over 200 participants turned up despite the adverse weather! The Penrhyn parkrun course is set at the scenic Penrhyn Castle in Bangor \u2013 which is actually a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/penrhyn-castle\">National Trust building<\/a>! The route is mostly flat with some small undulating slopes and takes runners around the beautiful castle with a fantastic view of the Menai Straits along the way. The Penrhyn parkrun would not be able to function and operate without it\u2019s dedicated and hard-working volunteers who turn up every Saturday morning to set up the course for all participants.
