In March 2021, to celebrate female coaches and leaders in our Sport in Wales, Welsh Athletics launched a positive action movement<\/a> to champion and encourage more female coaches to get involved in coaching, and progress on their coaching journeys in Athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently we have 15 female coach ambassadors<\/a> receiving mentoring support from our cohort of  female performance coach mentors<\/a>. In addition to this we would like to congratulate the successful Coaching Assistant and Leader in Running Fitness applicants awarded funded support to undertake the next step in their coaching journey to become either an Athletics Coach or Coach in Running Fitness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the next year, to create a sharing platform for our coach\/leader community to come together and learn from each other\u2019s experiences, we have shaped a series of 6 virtual workshop sessions which explore key themes, skills and challenges that may have previously, or currently be, impacting on your coach or leader experience.  Welsh Athletics and Run Wales are committed to supporting the long-term development of our leaders and coaches, and endeavour to take a holistic and person-centred approach looking after our community\u2019s well-being and volunteer experience. After such an unprecedented year, it is perhaps more important than ever to manage energy levels, expectations and prioritise self-care.  For this reason, we are kicking of the series with a nod to Well-being, exploring what factors contribute to wellbeing and how to allow yourself the space to develop as a coach or leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
