Run Wales

Meet the Team: Cath

Run Wales as an programme was established to support people into activity, celebrate those who run, walk or jog and to help develop the thriving social running community in Wales. To aid us in this mission, we’re thrilled to welcome some additional members to the Run Wales team. We hope that the growth of the team will mean that we’ll be able to offer better support to those that we already engage with and also to better support the growth of the Welsh social running community.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be introducing the members of our new team, highlighting what they’ll be working on and their plans for the future. You might know some of them already!

Next up is Cath, who joins us as a Young Person’s Physical Activity Activator

How did you come to join Run Wales?

I have enjoyed working with young people across various roles within health, play and education! I am passionate about sport and physical activity, as well as maintaining healthy habits for mental and emotional wellbeing. My role at Run Wales enables me to share these passions and encourage the implementation of healthy habits for lifelong participation. The opportunity to facilitate and promote increased engagement in physical activity amongst young people is exciting!

What are you responsible for?

Promoting and facilitating an increase in the number of young people who are actively running in social and informal setting across Wales. The aim is to improve physical activity levels across Wales, helping individuals to establish a lifetime of engagement in physical activity.

What do you like to do outside of work time?

I live on the coast and love spending time walking the cliff paths, having a sea dip and enjoying a good coffee! I love going to the theatre and particularly enjoy musicals. I take part in amateur dramatics productions, so am often busy rehearsing for an upcoming show. I also play hockey and enjoy running to maintain fitness and create headspace!

What are you most looking forward to about working for Run Wales and its future?

I am positive and optimistic about the future of Run Wales and the potential for increased participation and engagement in social running. I look forward to engaging with young people across Wales and developing links with various partners to create further opportunities for participation within the sport. I am looking forward to hearing stories from young people who have given running a go and are reaping the benefits both physically and mentally!
