Rhedeg Gyda’n Gilydd

Summary of Group:

Rhedeg Gyda’n Gilydd is a friendly, inclusive social running group established in August 2025 and based in Caernarfon, supporting people of all abilities to become more active through running, jogging and community participation. Since being established, the group has grown organically to 189 members primarily through word-of-mouth and community engagement. Our aim is to improve physical and mental wellbeing across Caernarfon and the surrounding area by creating safe, supportive and welcoming opportunities to run together. We welcome beginners, returners and experienced runners, using a relaxed, no-pressure approach built around encouragement, conversation and consistency. Our sessions use regrouping, loop-backs and buddy support to ensure nobody gets left behind. We promote enjoyment, confidence and social connection just as much as performance, helping members build healthier lifestyles within a supportive community environment. The group also maintains an active Facebook community, is continuing to build engagement through Strava, and has recently introduced Spond to help organise activities and improve member communication.

Alongside our regular social runs, we offer Cam Cyntaf, a structured 9-week beginner and returner programme designed to build confidence and progress towards continuous running and local parkrun participation. We also organise occasional early morning runs, social coffee meet-ups, community wellbeing posts and supportive fitness challenges to encourage consistency and long-term participation. The group has grown rapidly through word-of-mouth and social media, helping local people become more active, socially connected and confident in running. Future aims include developing additional qualified volunteer run leaders and expanding inclusive opportunities for community participation across the area.
