OTHER ACTIVITIES:

We run a variety of activities to suit everyone, including our popular Stride to Five (5K) programme (Couch to 5K) to help beginners start their running journey, which we hold once or twice a year. In addition to runners we also have Strollers i.e. those recovering from injuries or individuals who just prefer to walk.

As well as our regular runs, we host social events where members can catch up over coffee or a drink. We love parkrun and often travel across the country (Striders on Tour) to join different events, even organising group trips abroad for those who want to take their running adventures further.
Keep an eye on our socials for upcoming dates.

MEET THE TEAM:

Ian Jones, Run Leader - Co-Founder, Guide Runner, Mr. Motivator and Our Favourite Morning Runner
Ian, the heart of the Striders absolutely loves the community we’ve built. As a morning runner (and yes, he’ll remind you every day) is always up at the crack of dawn, ready to tackle the day and motivate the team.
A qualified Run Leader with plenty of experience, Ian brings energy and encouragement to every run. You’ll spot him from a mile away, thanks to his signature brightly coloured trainers - no one can miss those.
Whilst he’s great at motivating, don’t ask him to do anything too techy - let’s just say he’s not a fan of modern technology.
Julie Roberts, Run Leader - Co-Founder, Guide Runner and Behind the Scenes Mastermind
Julie’s all about community. An experienced Run Leader who following breast cancer, discovered the power of running and bringing people together.
A Run Director at Prestatyn parkrun, she always makes sure everyone feels included and motivated. If you can’t spot her at parkrun, you’ll definitely hear her.
One of a kind, she inspires and supports everyone to reach their potential, no matter their journey.
Julie is the mastermind behind the scenes, i.e. from organizing funding to writing entertaining run reports, she is the glue holding everything together and keeps the Striders running smoothly. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Elen Tudor, Run Leader - Social Media Star & Marketing Mastermind
Elen has been running for a year and a half, but don’t let that fool you - she’s already clocked up serious miles. As a Run Leader, she supports runners of all abilities. She’s also dipping her toes into triathlons, because why stop at running when you can also swim and cycle.
Elen rules our social media world as our queen of posts and marketing, having more running selfies than all of us combined.
Elen loves parkrun and if you need tips, motivation, or someone to tag you in a post about how awesome you look mid-run, she’s your girl.
Dave Tudor, Run Leader - Our Supportive Speedster and Social Coordinator
Dave loves a good social run, mainly because it usually ends with a post-run breakfast, a slice of cake or a cheeky drink. Dave is a Run Leader who’s always there to cheer you on, offer pacing tips, or simply distract you with a good chat mid-run. He’s taking things up a notch by starting his coaching journey in April 2025, so expect even more expert advice coming your way.
Since January 2024, he’s smashed his Half Marathon time from 2 hours 20 to a rapid 1 hour 34.
If you need motivation, Dave’s your guy.
Andy Clark, Run Leader -  Guide Runner, Our Weatherman & Running Machine
Want to know whether to wear shorts or a raincoat, Andy’s got you covered - literally.
As our resident weatherman, he keeps everyone updated on the latest forecasts, so no skipping a run, unless, of course, he’s seen the weather warnings.
A keen runner for years, Andy has tackled everything from speedy 5Ks to ultras. As a Run Leader, he’s full of knowledge and encouragement. With his coaching journey also starting in April 2025, he’ll have even more wisdom to share.
Whether you need race advice, pacing tips, or just a heads-up on the headwind, Andy’s got the answer.
Pete Roberts, Run Leader - Mr. Cool, Calm, and Collected
Pete is our resident cool, calm and collected guy, always there to keep things in order.
Here’s the twist, he never actually wanted to get into running. He laughs about how his wife, Julie, forced him into it.
Fast forward to today, and Pete is a qualified Run Leader, running 4-5 times a week and is a regular at the Prestatyn parkrun.
The group’s energy is just that contagious. He may have started out reluctantly, but now he’s a key part of the team - proving that sometimes, getting dragged into something can lead to surprising results.
Bob Neale, Run Leader -The Legend, The Wise Owl, The Cake Lover
Bob is a true legend. In his 70s and still thriving, he’s the epitome of motivation and resilience. Known for his wisdom and quick wit, he’s always ready with a word of encouragement.
Bob has an undeniable love for cake, and you’ll always find him with a big slice after a run, because he's earned it after all. His determination and infectious spirit inspire us all to keep going, no matter our age. As a seasoned Run Leader, Bob proves that it’s never too late to keep running, laughing, and enjoying the sweet things in life. Diolch Bob.
Dave Hudson, Run Leader - The King of parkrun Tourism
Hudo is an enthusiastic Run Leader with a strong passion for parkruns. He’s dedicated to parkrun tourism, often travelling across the UK with his family to experience new events, even if it means early mornings.
Hudo brings a great sense of humour to every run, always lightening the mood with a friendly joke or encouraging words. His supportive nature helps everyone feel welcome and motivated, regardless of their pace.
With a genuine love for running and the parkrun community, Hudo proves that you can combine fitness, fun, and a positive attitude—just don’t expect him to sleep in on weekends
Catrin Jones, Run Leader - Our Health & Safety Mother Hen
Catrin is a true success story, starting with our Stride to Five (Couch to 5K) in January 2024 and progressing to become a Run Leader.
She ensures that everyone is properly equipped with high-vis vests and torches for safe runs—though, ironically, she’s the one who often forgets hers.
Always kind, supportive, and with a smile, Catrin is the go-to person for maintaining a positive vibe and ensuring everyone’s safety.
Whether you’re completing your first 5K or chasing a PB, Catrin is there with encouragement and maybe a spare high-vis.
