Llandrindod based social running group Just Move were the first ever winners of the Run Wales Social Group of the Year award at last night’s Welsh Athletics Awards ceremony.
Just Move started in September 2015 with the support from Run Wales as a Walk to Run group, helping ladies in and around Llandrindod dust off those trainers and try to build up their running skills.
Initially supported by 8 local Leaders in Running Fitness, the ladies have now upskilled another 8 more leaders to support the ever growing participants. Just Move follow a 10-week programme to support women to gain both confidence and fitness with the aim of completing a 5k run at the end of the cycle. Following the completion of the 10-week programme the ladies then go on to support the new women starting their 10-week journey.
“We now have 4 groups from walk to run to intermediate runners who go on to tackle much larger distances like Half Marathons, and some of those started out in the Walk to Run group” Cath Fitzgerald Just Move Leader
The primary goal of Just Move is to make a real contribution to changing the behaviour of women in the area; getting them active and maintaining that level of activity for the future.
There are now 136 women registered to run with Just Move in Llandrindod who, go out come rain or shine, every Monday night in mid Wales.
Llongyfarchiadau mawr Just Move.
