This week’s parkrun of the week is the Cwmbran parkrun, which takes place at the Northfields Recreation Ground in Cwmbran. The event is approaching it’s 2-year anniversary and has seen over 3,000 runners participate over the course of those 2 years. The event takes place every Saturday morning, starting at 9a.m and is organised by a core team of volunteers largely consisting of parkrun enthusiasts. These volunteers ensure that the event is set up and packed away effectively every week, as well as publishing results and writing up event reports after the event. We recently saw March’s Group Of The Month – Run with us Abergavenny complete their Couch to 5k Graduation at the Cwmbran parkrun event. In addition, this Saturday’s Cwmbran parkrun will host two special events. At 8a.m, the Torfaen Spring Clean will take place at The Olive Tree in Cwmbran, where volunteers can go along and help clean up litter from the parkrun route as part of the Keep Wales Tidy campaign. Then, from 9a.m the parkrun event will take place as usual, but with a We Are Red theme, where runners are encouraged to wear red in support of Team Wales at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Australia.
