5k Your Way: Nant y Pandy

Summary of Group:

We are a volunteer lead group to encourage those living with and beyond cancer, families, friends, and those working in cancer services to walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer at our local parkrun at the beautiful Nant y Pandy Nature Reserve on the last Saturday of every month.

As 5k Your Way Move Against Cancer Groups provide opportunities to walk, jog, cheer or volunteer within a parkrun event, they operate within parkrun's guidelines and do not necessarily have qualified Run Leaders to lead the activity within the terms of their licence.

Josie Rhisiart, 5k Your Way Ambassador - Nant y Pandy parkrun
Josie is the Event Director at Nant y Pandy parkrun, so is usually there volunteering in some capacity, but she also holds a voluntary Event Ambassador role for parkrun supporting a number of other local events.  She spends a significant amount of time with local social running group, the Môn Milers, and champions the health and wellbeing benefits of activity through her 'day job' with Run Wales.
Sally Heywood, 5k Your Way Ambassador - Nant y Pandy parkrun
Sally is one of Nant y Pandy parkrun's Run Directors, regularly volunteering at the event on a Saturday morning, and also Chair of the Môn Milers Social Running Group.  Her son was diagnosed with a Ewing's Sarcoma in 2002, undergoing 2 years of treatment and despite a poor prognosis has gone on to qualify as a nurse keeping active including at his local parkrun. Sally found having a support network and getting outside very important during her son's treatment and sees 5K Your Way as a perfect opportunity to carrying on giving back.
Elois Davies, 5k Your Way Ambassador - Nant y Pandy parkrun
Elois is another of Nant y Pandy parkrun's regular volunteers, supporting our local community to keep active. During the week Elois works for BCUHB co-coordinating and delivering self-management programmes for adults living with various long term health conditions and carers. One of those programmes is Cancer: Thriving & Surviving which has been designed to support people to live with life after cancer.
Catrin Plews, 5k Your Way Ambassador - Nant y Pandy parkrun
Catrin works as a Person Centred Care Lead for Cancer for BCUHB.  She is passionate about anything and everything that supports people affected by cancer across North Wales. Dave Roberts, 5k Your Way Ambassador - Nant y Pandy parkrun
Dave works as a Macmillan Information and Support Assistant based in Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor supporting people affected by cancer. As an ambassador, he is further able to support those affected and take part on his local parkrun in a fun way.
