Our Groups are back!

We were absolutely delighted that the date for groups to return to running was reinstated to begin at the end of April, it’s been great to see so many of you back together.

Here are a few pictures and comments of groups from across Wales who have restarted group activity. Please keep sending in your photos and comments as more of you get back to running.

Over in Swansea, Paul Popham Running Club held their Xmas relay – Run Leader Champion, Mark Davies said ‘PPRC had planned a Xmas relay where teams ran a relay of 26.2 miles, unfortunately it was cancelled due to lockdown but the teams ran last Sunday in Xmas t shirts and some tutu’s. In May BH 🌞 

Heading up North Eva Brewer, Run Leader at Rhyl Runners said ‘Absolutely fantastic to be back with some of our Rhyl Runners gang, the air was full of excited chatter just like getting back together on the first day of term after the school holidays! We can’t wait to see more of the group coming back over the next few weeks’.

Next we’re heading to Just Run Penybont, Run Leader Champions Emma Marshall and Stephne Puddy tells us ‘Just Run Penybont have had a great first week back.  Everyone is so happy to be together again ❤️ Being back, even socially distanced means so much.  For some it was the first run since lockdown.  The smiles all around showed us how much it meant to everyone, we really did jump for joy.  Running buddies are the best’.

Back to the North Wales coast with Porth Eirias Runners ‘Back together and pounding the prom for Colwyn Bay’s Porth Eirias Runners After a long winter, it was the day the club members had been waiting for, being able to exercise together again! With restrictions relaxed, and groups now allowed to meet, Porth Eirias Runners returned with enthusiasm and smiles! The group, which meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, has a pre-booking system to ensure a covid secure meet ups and for their first meeting this year it provided a variety of sessions. There was something for everyone; Walk/run ‘jeffing’ group, hill training and 5k distance run. In addition, the group’s newest run leaders worked towards completing their training programme ensuring safe and fun running for all. Run Leader Gemma Gale said: ” Many of us have missed the structure of run club. It was great to get back out there together as a group, supporting each other as we all do our best. We have been as interactive as possible throughout the pandemic posting on our facebook group and we’ve organised virtual run challenges, such as the Valentine’s and Easter virtual 5k, but it isn’t the same as group runs together. We looking forward to many more club runs, especially as the weather gets better!’

In the Vale of Glamorgan, Julie Broughton another of our Run Leader Champions shared the return of Beyond Running Fitness.

Fantastic work by Run Leader Champion, Michael Roderick whose group Tri Harder Harriers were back in action with sessions 3 times a week including a trail run.

Finally we’re back to Cardiff with CDF Runners for their first session back, an out and back in Bute Park. Committee member and Run Leader Stewart said “It was a huge relief to be back and I’m really looking forward to leading groups out to the trails I’ve been exploring during lockdown. There are so many hidden gems around Cardiff’.
