Porth Eirias enjoy the easter sunshine!

Blessed with glorious sunshine, over 20 members of the Porth Eirias Runners laced up their trainers and took part in the Llandudno Easter Dash. The 5k run was a first for many of the group, who had recently completed their 0-5km training and yet to take part in an organised event.

The Easter Dash, which saw over 340 runners take part, followed a flat route along the Llandudno Promenade. All participants were rewarded with a brightly coloured Easter chick medal and of course, an Easter egg.

The group, which meets every Monday and Wednesday evening at Porth Eirias, Colwyn Bay also had a group social after the run enjoying with a well-deserved Easter Brunch at the Llandudno Bay Hotel. The brunch was organised by Run Leader, Gemma Gale to help raise funds for Gemma’s London Marathon sponsorship supporting the Royal British Legion. The runners indulged in a selection of sandwiches, scones and hot cross buns.

Gemma said:

“It was a fantastic day. We had a great turn out for the dash, followed by a really successful Easter brunch. It raised almost £400 for a very worthwhile cause very close to my heart. I am now looking forward to my first ever marathon!”

Run leader, Paula added:

“Our group is going from strength to strength. It is lovely to see everyone achieving their own personal goals and enjoying their running so much!”
