Rhedwyr Coed y Brenin

Summary of Group:

We are a very informal and friendly group of runners who meet every week in Coed y Brenin forest. No membership, no elitism, just turn up and run!

The group has a mixture of Welsh and English speakers, with Welsh learners in our midst, so there is always someone to chat to in a language of your choice!

This group is currently operating without a qualified run leader, but are engaged with the training programme and will soon have appropriately qualified volunteers.

TIMETABLE OF REGULAR ACTIVITIES:

Day: Thursday Time: 18:30 Level: Mixed
Location: Coed y Brenin - check Facebook page for exact location each week Cost: Free
Activity: Thursday night social run Gender: Mixed
Routes are typically around 10km in length, with plenty of hills and forest scenery. As a rough guide, it’ll usually take us around 90 minutes in total - we’ll always stop and regroup if we get spread out, so no-one is left behind. We tend to explore the forest away from the more well-trodden routes, so trail shoes are required, and October to March a head torch is needed.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

Sometimes we will meet in the Tyn y Groes pub afterwards to dry out/warm up/rehydrate!

MEET THE TEAM:

This group is currently operating without a qualified Run Leader, but are engaged with the training programme and will soon have suitably qualified volunteers.  However, they still have a very enthusiastic and supportive volunteer team to organise activities and support the runners.

Mat Fenwick, Group Leader
A runner for the past 10 years; I do the odd race but mainly run for enjoyment on trails and mountains. I like to introduce people to new trails they might not have known about. I'm also a Mountain Rescue volunteer with SSSART.
