Social running celebrated at Cwmbran parkrun by the Easy Pacers

Following a failed attempt to bring the Run Wales Social Running Celebration Relay to Cwmbran parkrun early this year, we were delighted that members of the fun and friendly social running group, Easy Pacers Cwmbran were able to take the official baton around this lovely course in warmer conditions this weekend.

The Celebration relay provides all Run Wales registered groups with a tremendous opportunity to showcase their group, sharing information about their activities and encouraging more people to participate in social running outside of their regular weekly parkrun.  We are encouraging groups to support their local parkrun by offering to volunteer as well as run, jog or walk at the relay events.

40/48: Celebration Relay Run Report – Cwmbran parkrun

We all had a lovely time running the Cwmbran parkrun course with many of our Easy Pacers taking part, and also volunteering!

We ran the summer course which takes in the play park and the boating lake and much of it is on a path through the trees. It really is a beautiful course!

Easy Pacers run on a Monday night and then again on a Thursday night – that one is called the pub run as it always ends at a drinks venue! We encourage runners of all abilities to come along with 4 groups going out at different paces and distances.

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that the goalposts (and proposed finish date) for Run Wales Celebration Relay have shifted this week, as we now have a total of 48 parkrun events in Wales!

Last week, the new volunteer team at Old Railway Trail parkrun, Llangollen welcomed 180 runners, joggers and walkers to their picturesque parkrun, having had a whopping 249 people attend their inaugural event.

With only 8 parkrun events not yet attended, we look forward to bringing the official Run Wales relay baton to Llangollen in a few weeks time!

This week 253 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 35 were first timers and 39 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 22 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 27 volunteers:

Richard John LLOYD • Julie Lorraine ROCHE • Glyn WORTH • Stella SYMONS • Helen GWILLIAM • Matthew LLOYD • Stephen WILLIAMS • Kelly CAMERON • Emma BAGLEY • Mark PROSSER • Charlie SIBLEY • Stuart BALL • Leonie ROBERTS • George FIRTH • Phillip ALLSOPP • Stewart SEABORNE • Andrew DAVIES • David HAPTON • Alison DAVIS • Helen BROWN • Adrian GWILLIAM • Megan JACKSON • Amy YEO • Kyle HARVEY • John DAVIES • Sarah BREWSTER • Clair MOGFORD

Today’s full results and a complete event history can be found on the Cwmbran parkrun Results Page.

The Easy Pacers handed the Celebration Relay baton to a member of Pontypool Phoenix Runners after this week’s event. We look forward to hearing how they get on at Pontypool parkrun next Saturday.
