This week we have a double edition of ‘parkrun of the week’ – our second parkrun of the week is the Merthyr parkrun, which takes place every Saturday morning at 9a.m at Merthyr Leisure Centre. This Saturday (21st April) the event will celebrate it’s 1-year anniversary, with spaces still available for volunteers to help with the event! To celebrate the 1-year anniversary, participants will receive a specially designed commemorative badge as well as a piece of birthday cake!
The Merthyr parkrun event relies on several dedicated volunteers labelled as “High Viz Heroes” who’ve braved the elements in recent months to ensure the event runs smoothly every single Saturday morning! In addition, the Merthyr parkrun recently witnessed its oldest ever finisher! Tom Harrison, who was visiting from Reading was the first runner over 80 years old (Tom is 81) ever to complete the Merthyr parkrun course, which we think is an incredible achievement.
