This week’s parkrun of the week is the Dolgellau parkrun, which takes place at 9a.m every Saturday morning at The Marian, Dolgellau. The Dolgellau parkrun has surpassed the 100-event mark, and recently benefitted from the installation of a new defibrillator (AED) at Gwyndaf Evans Motors on The Marian.
For those of you new to parkrun, or unaware of the recent update to parkrun’s policy, it is now mandatory that all parkrun events have an AED within 5 minutes of the course for any participants or volunteers who may experience a cardiac episode. The Dolgellau parkrun benefitted from the Rotary Club of Mawddach’s excellent fundraising work in getting the AED in place.
The Dolgellau parkrun relies on it’s hard-working and dedicated group of volunteers who help set-up the event and allow it to run smoothly for all parkrunners every weekend. In addition, back in March the event was one of only a handful to survive the blizzard conditions across Wales and went ahead thanks to the work of many High Viz Heroes in clearing the course and ensuring the safety of parkrunners was paramount.
The Dolgellau parkrun is a rural 5k course that takes runners on a two-lap out and back course along the Mawddach Trail. The course is flat and fast, and takes runners out towards Barmouth and over the footbridge on the Mawddach Trail before turning back and repeating the loop once more. Every week, spectators, volunteers and parkrunners at the Dolgellau parkrun meet up for a post-run coffee and chat at TH Roberts on Glyndwr Street, Dolgellau.
